The
Saguaro Scramblers Agility Club, Tucson, AZ hosted an agility competition
in December 2007. Here are some pictures and a quick review of the
event
|
The course was a twisted maze
that really forced the dogs to
listen to their people as they
weaved through the stages in the
correct order. Most of the dogs
made it through with no problems,
a few had trouble along the way

Here is a spotted dog who did
pretty well

|
|
The last stretch was the weave
poles

|
|
and a final jump

|
|
A larger dog running the course,
the longer tail didn't seem
to be any disadvantage

|
|
To start the dog waited for
the 'go' command. some people
walked further ahead than others
before starting their dogs

|
|
This little dog was hard to
photograph because it was going
so fast through the last tube
a jump, the poles and the last
jump..faster than I could take
two pictures with my camera

|
|
Black and white dogs didn't
do better than other colors,
they are just easier to see in
my photographs. There were plenty
of types, sizes and breads of
dog competing

|
|
Another dog at the last jump,
they seem to just hang in the
air when doing this last jump

|
|
The judges sat in this area
with a good view of the whole
course. There is a large timer
to let everyone see the final
times for each dog

|
|
Another dog at the end of it's
run weaving through the poles
and over the last jump

|
|
As the dogs did the course they
kept their eyes on the people
guiding them. This dog is navigating
the poles without any effort,
and it's full attention is on
the person

|
|
Another bigger dog jumping the
first (and third) jump of the
course

|
|
The brown, tan and gray dogs
were difficult to photograph,
but here are two good shots of
this nice looking dog

|
|
More shots of the dogs navigating
the obstacles during the dog
agility event

|
|
And more dogs jumping the first
hurdle of the agility event in
Tucson, Arizona

|
|
Here is a pic of a little dog
running the event, I suspect
these little dogs have an advantage
in the weaving poles, but perhaps
not in the distance they need
to run, Another shot of a bigger
dog walking the raised bridge

|
|
Some people walking the next
course over in preparation for
another event

|
|
The event was held at the Pima
County fair Grounds under a large
roof, which was good because
it was raining all day. However
the rain did bring a large, very
clear rainbow on saturday too

|
|
After seeing these smart and
energetic dogs navigating the
difficult agility course all
morning, I relayed the story
to this lazy doberman at home
who I found had ripped all the
sheets off the bed while I was
gone so he could sleep in a 'nest' ...
